Calling all iium alumni

Hello!

IIUM will celebrate its 25th year on May 20, 2008. We are having a charity dinner in the evening.Seats can be bought at RM100 per head. Please email me for details. Last date to give charitably for this dinner is May 12. This is once every 25 years. :))

Umm..I might be on TV on Monday morning on this. Bukanlah satu perkara yang saya suka nak buat walaupun saya mungkin suka masuk TV.Ha ha.

Tapi setengah orang berperangai pelik...nak tanya dulu ke mana donation tu pergi...sapa audit funding..hello..kita cuma minta RM100 bukan 100 juta ringgit (sekali in 25 years). Lagipun zaman Islam bermula dulu, semua orang jihad bagi harta benda nak bangunkan Islam.Takda pun tanya pasal auditors dan lain2.Semuanya based on trust.Ini, kita telah tiada.TRUST.Walaupun atas emas sekarung.

Oh sad..so sad.

I suppose u can never be too careful, that's why people ask. They have the right to know where their money is going. More transparency is needed, i think & it should be standard practice, especially from a university. RM100 does not go a long way these days.

I agree Jooli. But can you imagine a Uni's Fund being set up without all the necessities?(it being audited etc) We are not here for a day or two.But really...I begin to wonder about our own attitude on giving and whether we are just giving excuses on integrity and transparency to avoid giving. As you said lah...RM100 does not go a long way these days.

But since it's charity work, let me say that I respect that decision not to give.

dear Dr Faridah,
thanx a lot for ur reply..whoaa!! never thought that u would reply me soo fast!!!

i agree with ur second thought n yea my instinct also tells me that i should quit the job and focus on a fulltime M.A. studies..it will be less stressful in the sense that i dont have to chase a paper which is not worth for my nyawa..true! true!

i've talked to my bro n asked his opinion n he suggested me the second option as well..n i've asked a few senior lecturers here too, but their opinions are more likely into the first option...but i guess solat istikharah could be the most accurate answer for my case.rite??

from the bottom of my heart, really, i appreciate ur kindness to me for ur willingness to be my referee for my MA studies n for ur advice..MY Heartfelt thanks for your helps...

i bought ur "the art of naming" book before i graduated and i love it dou!! i even recited "THE VEIL, MY BODY" in Dr.Rozina's class during my presentation in the computer applications in language studies subject..=)

will read more of ur blogs after this..

Fantastic! It's good to istikharah.Option 1 can only happen if you get full support from your employer e.g. hari you pi kelas or have to sit for your exams, dia tak demand you are at your work place, etc.

And thanks for using 'My Veil, My Body' in your class -- it's been used worldwide too.A bit political.

Salam,
Why didn't I drop in earlier?...so that I'll be able to join the event.

So sad to hear about 'orang berperangai pelik'. I would have paid without further question. I bet the person who asked has more money than those who didn't. It's usually that way.

Hi Shima,

Aren't you listed in our alumni list? Please email me your particulars so that in the future we'll alert you for exciting events (ada satu coming up in Oct.German youth to perform classical music at IIUM, InsyaAllah) You alert your friends to be listed with us ya? The more, the merrier.

The dinner went well (doa sikit punya byk) and we managed to collect a decent amount of money (yalah...given the short time gievn to us and our donors).Moga2 those who we intended to help will benefit from usaha kita yang tak seberapa ini.
