Grand Iftar for the Ummah

ASA with two NGOs and IIUM Mosque worked on this for over a month. An iftar with Syrian and Rohingyan refugees.Inilah hasilnya, alhamdulillah.

30th anniversary

We celebrated it two days early since ada public holiday and we wanted to do our raya shopping sekali so when Z offered to give us a staycation (tidur free kat hotel in KL), I proposed buat semalam. Checked in 3 pm so we only started shopping around 3 pm. No baju raya baru for me sbb every year pakai sekali dua then wardrobe penuh. I'm going to recycle je yang lepas-lepas tu.

But we looked hard for my shoes.From French shoes to Danish shoes. I ni sesuai kasut buatan western europe je - german especially. Sbb kaki dia orang lebar di atas sedangkan kasut msia ni byk meruncing di depan. Nasib found one that I liked after satu mall tu pusing. I need to get a matching handbag. ;)

Berbuka was Thai food.Penuh! Unsangkarable.Ramainya org berbuka kat luar.Restaurant Arab tu langsung very padat.We had Maqlubah on Saturday with the clan so no more Arab meal for us. Sunday was with the Rawa clan..sambal tempoyak.Very nice.Met Mat and Nisbar for the first time.Dato' Mazlan could not make it (he almost went on Saturday..dah start engine dah kata Mat.Haha). Told them raya esok my place pulak.

This morning, Z and I masing2 ambik Uber and Grab car pi kerja. Nik drove awal lagi taking all my clothes.Nasib I dah keluarkan my baju kurung siap2.Yang lain semua dlm bag dia bawak balik.Had to pinjam bra Z.Nasib padan.Haha.

Tarikh sebenarnya besok.Alhamdulillah for all the years together and more, InshaAllah.

Al fatihah Rehman Rashid

Ruzy and I paid tribute to aruah Rehman Rashid in our own way upon hearing him passing on - heart attack in Jan and never woke up from his coma.

We once met at my Dept's event. Dia suka berdebat and I said something which he picked up and ajak berdebat lagi. But definitely a charmer and kind-hearted.

It's nice to know that he's among those lucky ones to die in Ramadan.Hanya orang yang terpilih die in Ramadan. I wonder apa amalan dia. Sebelum ni orang dok cakap dia macam-macam. Then some people who knew him well said dia ni suka tolong orang, suka kasi makan orang miskin and he had been supporting the maahad tahfiz in Kuala Kubu Bharu where he lived and where he wrote his last two books. Sungguh menginsafkan. Di dalam kematiannya, dia masih mendidik kita.

Dr Farizah and I went to Kino to purchase his two books sebelum all sold out. :)
Semoga rohnya ditempatkan di syurga firdaus.Al fatihah.

Ramadan Kareem

I have been kept busy sampai tak tau nak start kat mana but alhamdulillah bertemu dan bertamu lagi kita dengan Ramadan tahun ini. Just days before it, ramai yang telah dipanggil menghadap Allah.Mutik passed away minutes before Maghrib on 1st ramadan. How mulia.And her step sister died just a few days before that. I have not visited Kak Yah (her siblings). I heard she was pretty down. She's close to both sisters.

Nik is away on umrah. Sebelum Ramadan dia dah cabut dengan riang ria. I had to stay back dgn pelbagai alasan.Sebenarnya I am not comfortable with the Ramadan crowd. Nanti tak selesa nak solat dan mengadu segala kepada Allah. At home, Z and I bergilir-gilir jadi imam. Kali ni I am determined to perfect my puasa tapi dah 2 hari banyak cabarannya (dok berkelahi dgn orang..orang kacau I..kena le selepuk dua.Dr Shukran saw me talking in high drama with another colleague.He then WA tanya if I were OK.Haha. Orang tu mula dulu.Dia menjual, saya membeli. :D ) As I told my other group, I have zero tolerance dgn orang tak ikut peraturan yang akan hanya menyusahkan orang lain.

But ku pohon kesabaran dari Allah. Kita ini hanya insan yang kerdil.

Our PYP activities pun keeping all of us busy siang dan malam.I have arranged with PU Mizi that the younger guys tolong train budak2 kecil tu semua so they can join us in August. ASA is coming up with our own project. Harap2 menjadi.Semua berangan nak pi Maldives.The group really feels like one big family.What I love about it is that it is multidisciplinary.And if you look and listen closely, these people are meant to be at IIUM.

I have discovered this: if you sahur with oats, you will not feel hungry.Perut takkan berbunyi walaupun sedikit. Pagi tadi I was too sleepy to buat or makan oat.By 3 pm my gastric main macam2 lagu.But my RA and I managed to submit 2 papers and working on a 3rd (by tomorrow dah 3 papers submitted.Accept or not belakang kira).

So yes, welcome Ramadan.I am always productive during this month, alhamdulillah.
