Al-fatihah for Yasmin Ahmad

I think most of us feel the loss. Yasmin had agreed to speak at our Nov conference on Asia-Pac Literatures and Cultures. I remember on two occasions when I rang her up, her PA would always say she's in prayer.Yasmin seorang yang menjaga solatnya.May Allah berkati rohnya.

Yasmin juga cepat menjawab emails.I have a few from her on me.I'll keep them.
Baru malam sebelum Yasmin meninggal beberapa jam kemudiannya, I was at a dinner and a writer said it was pretty bad and that he didn't think there'd be any hope of her surviving.A few of us said miracles do happen and I was praying for one.

Allah knows better and Allah loves her more.

Al-fatihah, Yasmin. You had shown love and hope to us, through your art. There will be many little Yasmins in years to come.

Alfatihah to her.Kita akan merinduinya dan I think that she is now smiling looking at us and perhaps saying,

"See, I told you.You guys are going to miss me."

Having said that, I was pretty disturbed when some stupid people, with shallow minds of course, prefer to remember her, even after she passed away for her controversies or whether she was 'he' before.Man, what kind of society we live in when the rumours are taken blindly as facts and yet they don't even care to acknowledge the 'gifts' she gave to us.

Sorry for this angry comments - I just don't understand orang-orang kita punya mentality.

I remember one time when a friend criticised her film for not potraying right thing about Islam. So asked him,

"dah tengok ke filem tu?"

"Belum"

and I just told him,

"If you feel that filem dia teruk, kenapa tak buat sendiri filem yang betul betul potray Islam?"

My friend tu terus diam.

Inilah masalah orang kita, komplen pandai, bila suruh buat sendiri - well, tak payah go further.

Aduhai!

Such a loss, she's was really a great person. I remember meeting her when I was a student at IIU before, she came for a advertising seminar in USM and gave us an interesting speech on how to write stories through pictures.

In fact, she was among a few who inspired me to blog..

Al Fatihah to her.

Memang sedih.Lebih sedih ada satu suratkabar tabloid buat cerita yang tasteless.Tak tau nak hormat orang yang dah tiada to defend herself.Tak tau adab!
Sapa kita nak play God and judge others??!

i read the paper.

i was furious.

she is already gone, and i don't see the relevance in talking about that.

True Wai Meng.Such news has no added value. We don't need to know.We don't care.Yasmin was a teacher of life. That is all that matters. It's what we take home from her.
