Ma'thurat 20

"In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of Dawn, from the mischief of created things; from the mischief of darkness as it overspreads; from the mischief of those who practise secret arts; and from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy." (Al-Falaq:1-5)

The English translation mischief is so mild compared to the Malay one: jahat (isn't the word 'evil' closest to the meaning of "jahat"?) If Ustaz Rizal is reading this, mohon penjelasan. What is the Arabic sense of jahat/mischief in this ayat?
